It’s that time again, time for a Jess rambling, I’ve decided this is a great way to get out my inner chatterbox without giving Lyndsey, Paula and Debbie in our office a major headache! So here goes…
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”90666″ img_size=”medium”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]It’s been 3 weeks of lush-ness for us, we’re coming to the end of three weeks of private reading days. For me this has meant normal working hours, what a luxury this has been! I’ve been at home every morning and then home again every night for tea and I’ve loved it, I’ve loved the routine it has given me.
I’ve had time for myself and have even started finding the time to do some exercise as I’ve taken up running. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
The picture I have included here is a picture I took one morning whilst out for a run, I loved the way the sun was hitting the fields in the distance and the frost was gently covering the ground… Fast forward a week, the sun is hiding behind freezing fog and the frost and ice has covered the ground not so gently and its bloody slippy!
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”90668″ img_size=”medium”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]So this week had us doing Skype readings on Monday, and we we decided to do them from my house. You’ve heard my talking about our little dog Keith lots of times now, and my blog wouldn’t be complete without a mention of him. He LOVED Monday, as ‘Nana’ was at our house for the day, this meant he could cuddle and lay with her on her lunch break and well, he was just made up! Check the photo of him snuggling her unapologetically at lunch time, looking at me as if to say ‘Ha ha Nana gets all the snuggles today!’.
He loves her to bits, and I swear when we say, we’re going to see ‘Nana’ he knows exactly where he’s going and gets so excited! [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”90665″ img_size=”medium”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]Whilst we’re on the subject of Keith, we got the cutest photo of one of his ‘looks’ this week. Last weekend we looked after our friends dogs, Biscuit and Mocha. Keith loves them, although his face would never let on, I know he does. We usually collect them from their house before a sleepover and this time was no difference, we even took Keith into the house for a play before we left. He loves to explore when we visit someone else’s house and during this short visit we found him casually sitting on their stairs, giving us the look of all looks as if to say ‘Erm excuse me, can I help you??’
I love this little guy more than words can say and it really is true that animals are a man’s (or woman’s in my case lol) best friend! [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
Going forward to the weekend just passed, we actually had a lovely relaxing time. Myself and Lyndsey ventured out on Saturday for our usual adventures. Only this time is wasn’t too far away which is always a bonus.
We went across the water toward Edinburgh and traveled along the coast to Longniddry, not somewhere I have ever been before but we wanted to visit the coastline for some photographs. Now even though we didn’t actually find the thing Lyndsey wanted to take a picture of we did manage a lovely walk along the beach and we even managed to spot some Pilot Whales playing in the Firth of Forth! I felt so lucky to have seen these and it made my day.
We took a slow drive home via Fort Kinnaird and I treated Lyndsey to a Five Guys Burger for lunch. I tried to be good and had a salad sitting in front of Five Guys and although it was a lovely salad, I wanted to face plant a burger! I got a coffee from Cafe Nero to make up for it! On the way home we stopped at Ikea and had a walk around, one of my favourite places to mindlessly wander as you always find something you need even when you don’t actually NEED anything.
On Sunday we were very kindly treated to dinner out with friends. Not something we do very often actually but it was so lovely. We tried a new local place, Scott’s in Port Edgar. It was delicious and I had two of their meals from their healthier menu and would have them again in a heartbeat!

After dinner we tootled home, donned our pyjamas and hopped into bed with a cup of tea to watch our latest series that we’ve been loving, Luther. If you haven’t watched it and love a crime drama it’s a must! Especially featuring Idris Elba who plays the part of Luther amazingly.
I’m going to finish my blog this week by talking very briefly about my running, more so because I like a lot of people didn’t think I could run, I thought running was for fit and healthy people who had been doing it all their lives. I would always drive past the runners on the streets wishing and longing to be one of them, imagining the feeling of running to be so carefree and mindful. Just before my birthday and in my last blog I believe I did briefly touch on this notion of running. Well nearly two weeks later and I can honestly say hand on heart it’s been one of the best things I have ever put my mind to. Every day, I left my house on an evening, with my gym gear firmly in place and my earphones in my ears and I have walked and jogged the same route. It is exactly 1 mile, in a circle around the housing estate in which I live. At the start it was very much more a brisk walk than anything else and it felt hard and tiring and like it was never going to feel any easier. Fast forward two weeks and for the first time two nights ago I ran that mile! From start to finish, I didn’t stop, I didn’t walk, I ran! Me , running!! It’s honestly amazing, the feeling it gave me being able to run for 1 mile and my timings have improved even just in the short time I have been doing it. I can’t recommend it enough, even if it’s just a walk, a walk round the block once a day, it makes you feel accomplished, fresh and invigorated!
I’ll check in with you all again in two weeks time, i’ll update you on my progress and who knows I may even be running a mile and a half by then.
For now, I’ll bid you goodbye, until we ramble again. 🙂
Jess Jess!
