How To Cleanse Your Crystals
Did you know that your crystals need to be cleansed and recharged?
Over a matter of time as they absorb our energies and help us heal in so many ways, they actually become tired and overworked a little like ourselves.
Could you imagine working all week and not once taking a bath or a shower? You would feel horrible by the end of the week and not able to do much for this feeling.
Imagine if we didn’t recharge our phones or iPads, they would be flat and useless in a matter of no time. Well, your precious crystals are the same.
Some of you may have beautiful crystals sat out to admire and may never have cleansed them at all! How many of you reading this own crystals? Did you cleanse them when you first brought them home? If not, then they still have the residue energy from the previous owners.
Even if it was in a shop, how many people before you might have picked it up and admired it? The warehouse people and the packers and the finders and now the keepers, they have all handled your crystal! So you may find it is not doing the job quite as well as it should.
There are many favourite ways to cleanse them but I like to keep things simple when I can. Follow these simple steps for fabulous cleansing results. You can also add in a few of you own if you already know how to.
Water Method:
- When you first bring it in wash it under the tap! Simple, I have even used fairy liquid to give mine a good all round cleanse.
- You can also rinse them in mild salt water, I recommend sea salt only
- Let it dry on a paper towel overnight
- Polish with a dry cloth and admire
Mugwort Tea:
- This is a firm favourite of mine. Purchase some mugwort tea leaves and make a solution in a bowl. How much depends on how many crystals you need to cleanse
- Drain the leaves so you have a clear liquid and allow the mixture to cool
- Add your crystals into the mix and leave overnight
- The next day remove and set down to dry and they are then ready to use
Full Moon:
- This is brilliant for recharging and I often soak my crystals in the mugwort tea and leave them in a bowl in the moonlight
- Find out when your next full moon is going to be so you can be prepared
- Use your preferred method of cleansing and then place your crystals outside in the moonlight!
- Simply collect them the next morning and they will be supercharged
- It’s a good habit to get into once a month so their ‘batteries’ never drain
Smudging:
- You will no doubt have a preferred smudging technique already
- I like to use a white sage stick for all of my smudging house, cards and crystals alike
- Prepare your smudging stick or disc or incense stick and place each crystal in the heavy smoke that comes from the smudging
- Perfect cleansing, don’t forget to cleanse your area also, shame to waste a smudge!
Ask Your Angels:
- Although I have used this in a hurry, it is not my favourite method of cleansing
- Simply hold your crystals in your hands
- Take a moment to relax and connect to your Angels
- Ask them to cleanse your crystals
- Ideal if you’re out and about and they need a quick fix up if you need to use them
Always remember to do this often and you will find such a difference to the energy around you.
If you have a piece of crystal you carry around with you every day then this will need to be cleansed more than monthly. I always carry a piece of black obsidian with me (in my bra) and I wash this daily!
It absorbs negative and if you’re in a negative space, home or at work then you will need to deal with that effectively.
Have fun and I hope you enjoyed this quick help guide to cleansing crystals.
How do you know which crystals will work with you?
I recently found a whole bag of my crystals that are dearly needing a clean. I prefer the sea water method (probably cause I’m a water sign) so I like taking mine to the beach though there are some crystals that are porous and should not be inserted into water. Another method is to cleanse then recharge them in the earth for a day or so.
